Thank you for visiting Lost Paws Animal Rescue. We are currently seeking volunteers who are willing to lend a caring hand for the cats we help. We currently have cats placed at Petsmart located at 145 Promenade Blvd, Bridgewater NJ, where they can be seen by possible adopters. We need your help maintaining the cleanliness of the room and also for with socializing them. Volunteers will clean and groom the cats, as well as play with them. The Lost Paws Animal Rescue 2010 calendars are in! This desk calendar was made by one of our volunteers, and each image shows an animal that has been rescued by our organization.
These beautiful calendars are available with a $10 donation to Lost Paws. This weekend you will be able to pick one up with your donation at the Petsmart in Bridgewater. Lost Paws Animal Rescue is made up of very caring volunteers and we urgently need your help. We understand that times are hard and perhaps you have always wanted to be part of an organization that helps those with out a voice but in fear that your help is not sufficient you haven't stepped forward. Now more than ever your help is needed.

Pets definitely help us live longer and healthier lives. This is especially true of the elderly and those of us who live alone. Pets make wonderful and faithful companions. They are always there for us. However, this relationship can become strained, and sometimes even be broken when someone in the household develops an allergy to a beloved pet.

Cats are the members of the Felidae family of canivorous
mammals. Lion, tiger, leopard, jaguar, African wild cat are
the members of the cat family. Their closest relatives are
civets, hyenas and mongooses. However, what we generally
recognize as cat is the domestic or the house cat.
The association between cats and humans dates back to
between 7000 to 4000 years ago. From being dragged into
satanic ritual beliefs, Halloween and unlucky black cat
tags to being cute, caring and loyal companions, cats have
seen it all.

Abused cats can be terribly maimed and damaged on the outside.
They can even appear quite normal on the outside and all the
damage might be emotional.
The emotional damage is harder to repair. A physically damaged
cat will still respond positively to a soft voice and touch.
They seem to know that the abuse will not continue anymore.
With an emotionally abused cat, you will need to let the cat
come to you. Feed and care for it conscientiously.

Even a cat that compulsively cleans itself can benefit from a little grooming from her owner. Cats rarely need a bath, but frequent brushing removes a lot of loose hair which would otherwise end up either shed around your home or swallowed by the cat, creating constipating hairballs.
Grooming your cat on a regular basis also helps you monitor her health and make her easier to handle. Long-haired cats should be brushed and combed daily; short-haired cats only need grooming about once per week. While brushing your cat's coat, keep an eye out for lumps and skin irritations.

My family never thought of cat toilet training, but like to rear cats at home. I do not really mind them around, but the problem of dealing with their wastes poses some challenges to me.
Thankfully, I do some reading and got some expert tips.
Here are 7 steps for cat toilet training :
1. A kitten of 8 weeks old is ready for training.
2. Each cat need to have a name, and help her to get use to the name. By being able to respond to her name, it makes the task of pet toilet training much easier.

Have you ever had this happen? You’re a happy cat owner, your kitty is using the box just fine, but one day…you come home and find a giant urine spot in the living room…the bathroom…heaven forbid – on your bed!
What happened? What went wrong? It isn’t normal for a cat to use her litter box faithfully, then one day decide it’s no longer right for her. There’s always a reason why a cat stops using the litter box. Always.
If this happens to you, don’t panic!
